Quilts of Valor

Windham Fabrics is privileged and pleased to participate in the Quilts of Valor program.  Quilts of Valor is an extraordinary program that started in 2003 and has been growing strong since. The program consists of devoted quilters who have made over 32,000 quilts for our country's honorable troops. Their mission is to “cover ALL those service-members and veterans touched by war with Wartime Quilts.”

Windham Fabrics has designed two beautiful quilts as part of the Under Our Wings program.  Under Our Wings is a coaching program that teaches and promotes rookie non-quilters how to quilt.  Through this program rookie quilters will be instructed on how to make their very own Quilt of Valor quilt with the help of an expert quilter or store owner.  The UOW program gives the quilting community a chance to give back in a charitable manner to men and women in our National Service.

One very special attribute of the Windham quilt design that makes it unique from all others is a gold banner built into the large eagle panel pattern design of the quilt.  The banner is a space where you can personalize the quilt with the service-member or veteran’s name.Quilts of Valor eagle banner
The Quilts of Valor program is an ambitious program that helps aids in the comfort of our brave soldiers and their families and we are so proud to take part in it.  For more information about American Valor Fabrics and the Quilts of Valor Foundation, please visit www.QOVF.org.

  3. What a wonderful idea the coaching program is and even better that QOV will benefit. Several of my nephews are serving or have served. I am hoping some day to get all of their children a patriotic quilt made. I’ve got a good start on them.

  4. These are beautiful quilts and I’m sure any service person would be honored to receive them. What a worthwhile cause.

Quilts of Valor is a wonderful program to honor our service men and women. I have donated my time making quilts for this charity! Now that I know Windham Fabrics is involved with QOVF, I love WF even more!!! Happy holidays, and thanks for the chance to win your giveaway!

  6. I cannot think of a better program. Under our Wings is a fantastic mentoring project that promotes quilting and volunteering while giving back to our service men and women. I am so happy to hear that QOV has Windham’s support…it’s a truly wonderful organization.

  7. I came by to enter the giveaway via Craftside, but am moved by your wonderful project. I don’t have time for anything but work lately, but used to be on the quilter’s board here long ago. Hope to get back to it one day.

Quilts of Valor is a terrific project, and the 2 quilt designs are fabulous. I came here via the Craftside blog, and I’m glad I did – thank you for participating in QOV to honor our military!

  15. How beautiful these quilts are. Rich colors and I love the details in the eagle. God has blessed America! I have a brother and two brother-in-laws that have served this country. How nice it would be to give them a quilt honoring their service to our country. I love the idea of being able to personalize them.
