In preparation for the Horizon Challenge, we’ll bring you inspiration from our “Sewlebrities” all month! Next up, Tamara Kate with her quilt, Refract.
I love a good challenge, so when presented with Grant’s Horizon fabrics, I jumped at the opportunity to design a quilt with them as these large-stroke, painterly prints are outside my usual wheelhouse. I was particularly attracted to the lush colors in the prints and to the way the strokes of color change (subtly or dramatically) along the length of the fabrics.
I chose to play with the simple shape of an equilateral triangle to let the fabrics really speak for themselves and to dissect these triangles in order to play with the aforementioned color changes. I love how bold the finished product is! ~Tamara Kate
