A very happy memory is the Banana cake with brown sugar frosting, it was so different from the other sweets, and it had a tiny pink ribbon bow on top for me their Christmas baby. Thanks for the chance to win!
My favorite Christmas memory is observing swimming carps in our bathtub. On Christmas Eve morning, dad processed them in the kitchen and then we were able to take a bath before the festive evening meal. (In Slovakia, there is a tradition to have a fried carp for Christmas Eve dinner).
I think my favorite line is ‘Star light, Star Bright’. There are so many precious memories, but I think one of my fondest was finally coming home to my parents in KY after being stationed in England with my Air Force husband for 4 years. We had 2 children that had been born overseas there and it was such a special Christmas coming home, being with family, and sharing in all our traditions with my two little tots!
loved our Christmas trees when we were kids … went out and found the biggest, prettiest tree and chopped it down, lugged it home and set it up. the top of the tree was always bent over by the 10-ft ceiling so that the angel was always looking down on us.
I loved going to my grandma’s house and spending time with the whole family. The food, smells, friendly faces! What great times!
When I was 6 years old, the bay where delivery ships docked was frozen in and the ship could not dock. We had to wait for Christmas a few days more. When the package was delivered, my sister and I were allowed to open the big box and have at it . . . Ice skates and all!
One of my favourite Christmas memories was the year we got married. We went to Lapland to visit Santa in his cabin in the forest. Coming out of the forest on snow skis and seeing the elves in the camp was magical!
My favorite memory was getting a tape recorder with a recording from my father playing Santa Clause. I sure with I still had that tape.
When the kids were small, we turned the Christmas “big gift” into a treasure hunt. We’d leave clues, and when they solved them all it led to the big gift. It was fun!
My favorite Christmas memory was when I wrote a story that the Kansas City Star published on Christmas day. I was born with a rare birth defect that because of the medical problems caused my parents to divorce. My mother raised not only myself but two other children all the while holding down a full time job. She was a single working mother long before that phrase existed. The story I wrote was for her, telling her how much the three of use admired her and appreciated her. In all the years of medical issues, stress and day to day living I never saw my mother shed a tear but that Christmas morning she cried as she read her Christmas story. Rina
My favorite memory is being like 6 & I received an animal drum set & a big kitchen set. I just love being with family & there are so many good memories. Thank you for the giveaway.
